Tunnel Entrances/Exits

Here is a map of the steam tunnels around campus.

War Memorial Chapel
According to several websites, this entrance/exit has been armed with a motion sensor. While we cannot confirm nor deny this, it may be a good idea to stay away from this one. From what we've gathered from websites, this entrance is a "door near War Memorial Chapel".

Agnew/Saunders
Probably the best entrance to start with, this grate is located right next to the sign the says "Saunders Hall". This entrance is a good one to do during any times when classes are not yet in session (during breaks, weekends, summer, etc), as it is surrounded by academic buildings. The two halves of the grate are too large, and they both have to be lifted in order to lift either. The ladder leads down only a few feet, and you will enter a tunnel which you can stand up in. This tunnel has always been lit up for us.
As an exit, your chances are alright here - students usually don't walk around this area, especially if you go during the days mentioned. If you come out and believe someone sees you, Agnew is usually open at all times and you have the option of running into there to try to lose someone.

Miles/Barringer
This entrance is fairly well hidden, and can be found behind the wall between Miles and Barringer. From experience, this grate is very creaky, so if some of the dorm room windows are open, be careful. This ladder goes down for a few feet, and leads into a pretty cramped, and usually unlit tunnel. You will be sidestepping while crouched for a long while, including some parts which may have a few inches of water on the floor.
As an exit, this is a pretty safe bet, at least for opening the grate back up. Since it is behind the wall, there is not much of a chance that anyone would see the grate being opened. From here, you can peek out and see if the coast is clear. It would not be a bad idea to listen and figure out if anyone has their dorm room windows open - this grate is loud, remember.

Cassell Colliseum
This entrance is somewhat hidden; while it is behind the large pine tree and air conditioners, it can still be seen from Washington Street. You may want to wait until very late to go down this entrance, and be sure to watch for police. This tunnel is also usually unlit, and goes from somewhat cramped to pretty cramped/sidestepping.
This entrance does not exactly make the safest exit - people are often walking down Washington Street, and cars are always driving by. Opening the grate is relatively safe, as it is somewhat hidden, but use caution when peeking out and exiting - quickly hide behind the pine tree when you are out.

Pamplin
I would not recommend this grate as an entrance or an exit, it is right in front of Pamplin, not hidden from much of anything. We have exited here however, but it was not the best decision we made. If necessary, you should know that this is an option though; the 'leaf-grate' which prevents using some of the grates is not present on this grate.

Torgerson Bus Stop
I don't know when this would ever make a possible entrance, but we have used it as an exit. If you make the trip from Miles/Barringer through the awful cramped, crawling, sidestepping tunnel to here, this is one of the few open grates if you do not want to make the return trip. It is literally under the awning for one of the bus stops on the drill field side of Torgerson. From within the tunnel, someone has written "Good Exit" pointing towards this grate, and while it is definitely not a safe exit, someone has peeled away the 'leaf-grate' which prevents using most of the grates nearby. We used a lookout to let us know when it would be safe to exit, and it still took an hour to dodge students, cars, and buses.
